Manmool Castle


History

Manmool Castle, A heritage structure built in 16th century is inside ICRISAT campus has served many roles, this building was used as a taxation center, hunting lodge, shelter for the poor and later as a shelter for animals.

The building was recently renovated and has become a museum of sorts displaying early ICRISAT history.A transformation journey, bringing back the glory of ancient stone walls and its bond with pointing, adding touches of Ceh Baara on squinches like an icing on a cake.

The restoration work is consulted and supervised by Mr. Suryanarayana Murthy, Principal consultant - M/s Kshetra Consultants


Restoration


• Removal of old and decayed lime plaster
in insidehall, parapet and outside

• Stone cleaning, chipping and pointing,
inside outside, outer stone wall and
parapet wall service room and temple

• Replacement of missing stone block

• Repair and re-establishment of
deteriorated squinches in lime mortar

• Stone staircase repair and plaster

• Removal of broken stone flooring and
water tank

• Terrace Treatment -Removal of old
cement layers and decayed floor

• Lime concreting on terrace

• Tile laying as per design

• Adaptive reuse of old Shabaad stone
inGarden area, excavated from
siteterrace and other areas.
