Ek Minar Masjid

History

Ek Minar, meaning single tower. As the name suggests it’s a prominent single Minar and a 100 old stone dome, located in central market near Nampally Railway Station. Most of the structure evolved in concrete and brick masonry over time, adding space as required. Which lead to disconnected joints in the slab.

Restoration

• Removed several layers of lime and hardened chemical paint from the dome by abrasive cleaning methods, exposing the natural stone look of the dome

• Added flower band around the dome, matching the flower on top of the minar

• Repaired top area of the dome with lime plaster and added protective water proofing

• Repaired and grouted cracks and cavities on the Minar and the Dome

• Repaired concrete slab expansion joints and building joints with new methodologies, using Fosroc compounds.

• Repaired and restored roadside facade

• Painted the Minar and Dome in white and gold
